- Conditioning Fine-cut Tobacco
- The Cortesta method recommends an environment with a RH of 75% +/- 3% and a temperature of 22deg. Centigrade +/- 2deg.. Loosened tobacco is spread into perforated trays to a thickness of 20mm (~3/4"). Tobacco is conditioned using a salt solution (in shallow trays and covering the bottom of the conditioning chamber) and forced airflow for a minimum of 72 hours and not longer than 10 days.

- There's at least 2 questions related to Zippo lighters being a PITA to light. The answer in my opinion is that the stock flint spring is too weak, that while the spark may look adequate, its not. My current solution is a hack job involving part stock spring and a short stiff spring I found inside a Cricket piezo assembly.
I find it hard to believe that such a household name would be pumping out what appears to be a flawed product. So far I haven't found much and what I have found seems to be missing the point, nothing about the flint spring.

- Vapor Pressure Calculator
- It seems that when using dew point/actual vapor pressure (53/14??) as a constant variations in temperature will equal the variations in relative humidity that you see with a hygrometer.

- What's the Real Humidity?
- The only site I've found that discusses tobacco storage in terms of absolute humidity, i.e. converts relative humidity to absolute using a dew point of 59.75deg (70% RH @ 70deg. = a dewpoint of 59.75deg). I don't believe this takes the tobaccos hygroscopic properties into consideration. I don't think its possible to use RH as an absolute gage of tobaccos moisture content.
Dropping the temperature to 65deg. won't result in a hygrometer reading of 83% RH (see his chart at the bottom of the page or input 65deg. and 59.75 dewpoint in this page). The relative humidity of the air will rise with a decrease in temperature but nowhere near that much.
I wonder of tobacco can absorb/hold more moisture at lower temperatures (I haven't done experiments at higher temperatures) and that this lowers the moisture in the air, i.e. decreases the dewpoint/RH of the air. If this is true, RH will vary depending on the proportion of tobacco to air in the container.
